The 32nd Camrose Vintage Working Day, in aid of local charities and organisations, will be held at Folly Cross Fields, Camrose, on Saturday, August 26.
Due to be opened by Mr. Paul Davies, Welsh Assembly Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire, the event will feature a number of special attractions this year, including a display by Pembrokeshire Falconry, 100 Years of Fordson 1917-2017 and a ‘Bygone Days’ exhibition.
But they are only part of what is sure to be a busy day at the always popular event, which was first held in 1985.
Founder members Dillwyn Phillips and the late Mervyn Mathias intended the show to be a one-off event to raise money for local charities. Thirty-two years later it is still going strong with a dedicated committee who have raised over £250,000 for Pembrokeshire charities, with only one break for the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001.
This year’s show will continue with static displays alongside the showing of farm working methods from a bygone era, while other attractions include:
The Fordson/Ford Paddock; Pembs Mud Slingers Paddock; Tractor Ploughing; Steam Engines; Agricultural Machinery and Memorabilia; Vintage Tractor Displays; Working Stationary Engines; Car Boot Sale; Trade Stands; Children’s Entertainments; Classic Cars (made and registered before Jan 1977); Keyston YFC display.
Sheepdog Handling; Working Farrier; Woodcraft; Sheep Shearing; Craft and Model Display; Hay Baling; Tug of War for children; Threshing; Vintage cars and Motorcycles; Corn Cutting; EduPets Animal Experience; Model Engineers Track.
Quality refreshments will also be available throughout the day, which will run from 11 am to 6 pm.
Indeed, the show is ever popular with the public, and the organisers are looking forward to their support again this year. In October, a presentation evening will be held when the charities which are being supported will be invited along to receive the proceeds of this year’s show.
