Ashburnham won by a very narrow margin this year, seven games to six. Tenby have only won this cup four times, but they keep trying and this was one of the closest matches ever.
The game was started by Mary Rowell (Tenby) and Ann Lewis (Ashburnham) in 1982 to encourage men and ladies to play golf together and, apart from two occasions when rain stopped play, the matches have been played every year since.
The cup was presented by Ali David (Ashburnham) in 1983.
The friendship that has developed between the two clubs because of this match was evident by the enjoyment in the clubhouse after the match.
Mary Rowell presented the cup to Cath Jones, lady captain of Ashburnham.
Cath thanked Tenby for hosting the game and the catering staff for a very good meal. Cath congratulated Ion Murphy, Ashburnham, for a hole-in-one on the sixth, the first ever in this competition. Ion very kindly put drinks for everyone behind the bar..
Mary would like to thank all the players who stood in because 11 players had to drop out due to illness!
Mary and Cath have arranged May 9, 2010, in Ashburnham for the next match, if convenient for the two clubs.
