SEPTEMBER is here again and time for the Open Arts Exhibition at St. Johns Church, Warren Street, Tenby, with part of the proceeds going to the continuing Restoration Fund.
After a summer of superb weather and plenty of sunshine, the St. Johns Open Exhibition will be full this year of a splendid array of paintings of Pembrokeshire in several mediums - watercolours, oils and pastels by, it is hoped, as many artists as last year. Both professional and amateur artists are invited to submit their work. They will be asked for £1 per picture submitted for hanging and 20 per cent of any sales - these monies to go to the Restoration Fund of St. Johns.
Again this year, the artists will be joined by craftsmen and women who will display their three-dimensional work. This proved to be a great success last year and increased the interest for the viewing public. There will be work by embroiderers, potters, wood-turners, jewellers and seamstresses.
And, of course, in the second week of the exhibition, which coincides with the Tenby Arts Festival, the Tenby Camera Club will display their excellent and interesting photography, much of which will also be for sale.
This art and photographic exhibition has been an integral part of the Tenby Arts Festival for several years and the monies raised for the Restoration Fund has helped with the much-needed improvements and repairs to St. Johns, ensuring that the church and schoolrooms are made more comfortable for the community to use and enjoy.
Anyone interested in submitting their work for sale at this year's Open Exhibition is asked to bring their work to the Schoolroom, St. Johns Church, Warren Street, Tenby, on Friday, September 12, 10 am to 12 noon (opposite the Post Office). Any questions regarding showing work, please 'phone Carol Brinton Thomas on 01834 812958.
The exhibition will run from Saturday, September 13, to Saturday, September 27 (closed Sunday mornings), 10 am to 5 pm, and admission is free.
There will be an original painting by a local artist as the raffle prize which will be drawn at the close of the exhibition.
