Span Arts team up with Shana and Dragon Collective to present this year's fabulous Aquarian party - now in it's eighth year - next Friday, January 20. Kissmet is a stunning new dance band that is at the cutting edge of the fast-evolving British Asian (Brasian?) music scene. The organisers spotted them headlining at the 'Small Nations' Festival,' so they know that they are guaranteed to get a crowd dancing. Since their formation in 1999, Kissmet have developed a unique blend of Eastern and Western styles that is proving irresistible to venue and festival audiences everywhere. Their hypnotic rhythms skilfully blend elements of ragas and bhangra with hard-edged rock and funk. They also have formidable vocals, led by brothers Ron and Buzz Singh, who effortlessly glide between precise harmonies in English, Punjabi and Hindi. Kissmet have shared the stage with such stars as The Doves, Transglobal Underground, Ms Dynamite, Billy Bragg, Moiz Vas and Nav Sagoo, Rishi Rich. There will also be DJ's Shana, Carlos and Earthdoctor, belly dancers and décor, so go in your finest party pants Doors open 8 pm and tickets, £9/£8, are available from from Span Arts on (01834) 869323.
