Sir,

I am writing with reference to the closure of the public conveniences in Upper Frog Street, Tenby. The toilets, when open, are in constant use, therefore I am appalled that such a basic facility has been taken away from residents and visitors alike.

These public conveniences were closed in November and were reopened at Christmas and New Year ready for the influx of visitors, but promptly closed after the holiday period! Do Pembrokeshire County Council realise that the residents of Tenby need these facilities too!

I have seen many a disabled person's look of horror when realising these premises are closed. There are also numerous local traders who do not have their own facilities within this vicinity, which makes running a business difficult when one needs to use public conveniences in Tenby.

There is a notice to say the general public may use the facilities in some of the local pubs and clubs. However, I know I'm not alone in saying that women in general do not want to walk through a pub to use their toilets!

Some of the local traders have raised a petition to have these facilities open all year round and a total of 250 signatures have been gained in under a two-week period!

Come on Pembrokeshire County Council, please give us our basic human needs. After all, what are we paying council taxes for!

Linda Nordell,

Tenby.
