In 2008, a group of vintage tractor enthusiasts arranged a road run to raise money in memory of Mr. Lloyd Richards, of Angle.
Four tractor runs later, with glorious weather each year, over £5,000 has been raised for local charities.
This year's run attracted 55 tractors. Leaving the village of Hundleton, the convoy travelled through Monkton, Pembroke Main Street, Lamphey, Manorbier Newton and Jameston, before stopping at a watering hole at Freshwater East.
Suitably refreshed, the tractors made their way to Stackpole Quay and then took to the fields (by kind permission of the James Brothers), passing above Barrafundle beach (recently nominated as one of the finest beaches in the world), which was a glorious sight, especially for some of the drivers who had never been to that part of Pembrokeshire.
Moving on to cross the eight arch bridge over one of the lakes of the famous Bosherston Lily Ponds (by kind permission of the National Trust), the convoy headed for St. Twynnell's village and Chapel Hill, before taking the bridle path cross country, returning to Hundleton, a total of 26 miles.
After refreshments had been taken, the raffle was drawn, which realised £500 for the Paul Sartori Foundation.
Grateful thanks are extended to everyone who assisted on the day, especially the ladies who supplied the early refreshments, the marshalls who controlled the traffic, the licensees of the Highgate Inn, and Peter Morris, Brian Bateman, Walter Simon and John Corbett, whose photo shows the convoy crossing the bridge over the lily ponds.
