Friends of Minwear Church recently held their annual Clay Pigeon Shoot, by the kind permission of Sir Edward Dashwood, in the picturesque surroundings of his grounds on the banks of the Cleddau, near Landshipping.

The large entry (141 guns in total) were tested to the full by the series of traps that challenged even the most experienced shot.

Although the weather deteriorated as the day progressed, it did not deter the shooters, who produced some excellent scores.

The winners were: in the open class - Mathew Rees with a score of 48; in the veteran class - Ron Morgan with 35; Carol Francis scooped the ladies' class with a score of 34; the novice class was won by Geraint Bowen with 35; with a score of 36, Adam Watts won the junior class.

The Haylett Grange Side by Side Challenge trophy was taken with a score of 36, by J. Brace, and the Haylett Grange 410 Challenge Series 30 Bird saw Peter Davies score 17 to take the honours.

Many thanks are due for the hard work of Mike Lewis, Steve Cole and Llew Davies for setting up the shoot, and to Andy and Rose, of Haylett Grange Shooting Supplies, who acted as shoot sponsors.

Thanks also to Martin Lewis and Clr. Peter Morgan for the presentations and to all who helped on the day to make it such a successful and enjoyable event.
