Local readers will probably recognise some of the faces on the front cover straight away. It shows the 1989 Easter Monday Bonnet Parade in Tenby's Tudor Square, viewed from the tower of St. Mary's Church by Observer photographer Adrian Joyce. The Dyster Memorial Fountain can be seen in the background. In addition to this photograph are several other exclusive frames saved up through the year for the annual, so ample has been the supply of past pictures and other mementoes during the past year.
Patrick Ovenden, compiler of both the Tenby Times and its annuals, said: "The popularity of the Tenby Times is phenomenal, and the level of support it benefits from after 100 issues and five annuals is nothing short of a miracle. I have been surprised and delighted in the past year with the sheer volume - and high quality - of the many contributions from locals, visitors and exiles alike.
"I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the great debt we owe to Albie Smosarski for his great postcard feature, 'Cofion Corner'; Ian Nicholls for the meticulous 'Remembered Faces;' Neil Westerman, of Tenby Historical Society; Garfield Smith; our regular poets and recipe writers; Graham Hughes for all those Squibbs Studios photographic archives and the staff at Tenby Library who accommodate the Observer back issues and are always so helpful and friendly.
"Back in 2005, while Clare Townend was manager of the Observer, we realised that the wealth of relevant, personalised history appearing in the Tenby Times was too precious to lose to the limited life of newsprint and the idea of creating an annual was born. I am grateful to Andrew Lowe, of Signature Design, who gave us a pattern for the annual which has been used each year with success.
"This year's annual is divided into themed sections, including one that looks at the history of various businesses in Tenby, including Woolworth's. There are six pages of news and pictures from 1989, as well as sporting memories, seasonal scenes, familiar faces, past views of the town and an interesting section called 'Pomp and Circumstance.'
"There has never been so much material to choose from, so I hope it shows in the quality of the fifth annual."
