Just as Christmas happens only once a year and brings with it great excitement and pleasure. So too does the renowned Tenby Art Exhibition, a major highlight of our summer.

It begins on Saturday, July 20, ending Thursday, August 1. Daily between 10 and 5 pm in St. Johns Church Hall, Warren Street, Tenby. Admission free.

Living artists will display their works. So fortunately there will be no Francis Bacons, this year and therefore nothing to frighten the children. This year we will see on canvas all that is pleasing; and sometimes with the moderns, representations that are puzzling.

The renowned local artist David Morgan will be cutting the tape on Friday when members and dignitaries (whatever that means) will have a preview.

But readers who will obviously and correctly consider this event as a 'Sotheby-Christie' in Tenby need have no fear that they may miss a new Master in the making through dignitaries snapping up the best. Dignitaries will inevitably snap up the worst.

And do you know that when this writer was a boy one could snap up a Lowry for £50 or a letter from Nelson for £80.

There is a feeling that such an opportunity could be on our doorstep in 2013.

Do not call in at your peril.
