Sir,

Time was when a ticket to see the Animals would have been very hard to buy. It's hard to remember that they were once more popular than the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

But when they hit the stage at the De Valence in Tenby tomorrow (Saturday) at 7.30 pm, tickets are only £12 each. Compare that to the price of admission for other super groups today.

This is a spin-off event from the hugely successful Tenby Blues Festival, which did so much to boost trade in Tenby last year.

Like most '60s bands now, not all the original members can be there. But some of them will. In other words, this is no tribute band, but the real thing.

What should also be remembered is that they'll sound a lot better than they did when 'House of the Rising Sun' first topped the charts. After all, they've been practising this and all their hits for more than 40 years.

The Animals were - and still are - one of Britain's most respected groups. Why not re-live your youth a bit and do what you probably couldn't have done in the Sixties - see the Animals in Tenby live? Could be a lesson too, in how to really play rock and blues for a younger audience.

This is just the first of a top line-up of entertainments at the De Valence this year. Good job we still have the pavilion in Tenby, which is presently seeing closures affecting holidaymakers and visitors on an alarming scale.
