Four men had to be airlifted to safety after getting into difficulties whilst fishing from a cliff at Lydstep Head on Saturday.

Tenby Coastguard Rescue Team and RAF rescue helicopter 169 assisted the quartet to safety shortly before 11 pm. The South Pembs sector manager was also in attendance.

The four males, aged 25, 23, 24 and 14 years, were from Carmarthen and Manorbier, repectively.

They had started fishing at 7 pm and when they decided to leave, one of the party was concerned at the height and the climb back up.

They did the correct thing in calling for assistance, and once coastguards were on scene, it was decided, due to the darkness, terrain and wet conditions, that the casualties would be airlifted to safety.
