Sunday's match organised by Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club was for the Mulberry Cup, which was a Flatfish Rover. Why Merv Brace went to Ginst to fish for bass, he alone knows, as his four-pound fish won him not a carrot! Perhaps it was something to do with the previous night's festivities. Those who remembered the rules had mixed success, only four out of 14 anglers weighing-in. The writer could not compete due to previous commitments, so whose Golden Peg number was drawn for the first time ever - his! Winner was Rob Harrison with a flounder of 500g (£100 and 10 points), second was Terry Hunt with a bag of 690g (£50 and eight points), third was Tony O'Neil with a bag of 390g (£20 and six points), and fourth was Mike Tew with a bag of 370g, giving him four points. The next SSAC matches are: Sunday, March 4 - Tenby Beaches (sign on at the Sports Club 12 - 12.15 pm, fishing 1 - 5 pm, weigh in at The Chemist Inn, with scales closing 6 pm prompt); Sunday, March 18 - Carl French Electronics sponsored match at Pendine Beach (£100 first prize and £50 second, sign on at Pendine slip 10.45 - 11 am, fishing 11.30 am - 3.30 pm, weigh in at the slip, scales close at 4 pm prompt). Current leaderboard: 1. Rob Collins 22 pts; 2. James Canton 18; 3. Liam Ridgway 14; equal 4 Rob Harrison and Wayne Williams 12. The next SSAC meeting is at the Sports Club on Wednesday, March 7, at 8 pm.
