Peter Davies, of Amroth, has been awarded the CBE for services to sustainable development in Wales.

For the last 10 years, 61-year-old Peter was Commissioner for Sustainable Futures and through this role worked with the Welsh Government on the Wellbeing for Future Generation Act.

Born and bred in Pembrokeshire, having attended Tavernspite and Whitland Grammar schools, Peter admitted he was ‘slightly embarrassed’ to receive the royal accolade.

“There are a lot of people who have been working on this project and to be singled out is slightly embarrassing,” he said.

“But it is good recognition for Wales as we are recognised around the world for our sustainable development, including at the United Nations where I was invited twice during the project.”

Married to Pauline, Peter was previously awarded an OBE in 1995 for services to education.

He is now involved in a variety of projects involving BT, Welsh Water, is chairman of both the Wales Council for Voluntary Action and The Size of Wales charity and has an associate role at the University of Trinity St. David, Carmarthen.
