The loss of the personal details of seven-million families has led local AM Angela Burns to issue a help sheet to those worried about identity theft. "This is a truly shocking breach of security," said Mrs. Burns. "As a mother of two young children, my personal information, including my bank details, their dates of birth and my signature, are now on a missing database and I am extremely angry. "The Government bleats on at us about protecting our identity and then puts this sensitive information in the post, unregistered and without encrypting it." Mrs. Burns has now put together a simple fact sheet to help anyone who may be worried about identity theft. "Even before our private details were handed over on a plate by the Government, this was a growing area of concern and I have drawn up a simple set of bullet points that can help people prevent themselves from becoming victims of identity theft." If you want a copy of the fact sheet, contact Mrs. Burns's office in Narberth on (01834) 860102.
