During the Education Minister's questions recently, County AM Nerys Evans congratulated the excellent campaign run by parents and pupils at Greenhill School to ensure the future of the school's well known orchestra.

In a response to the Plaid AM, the deputy skills minister, John Griffiths, welcomed the decision by the school's headmaster to use the money they have received to fund the orchestra at Greenhill and ensure its future.

Nerys Evans AM said: "The excellent campaign run by the parents and pupils at Greenhill deserves praise and that's why I decided to raise the issue on the Senedd floor. The minister agreed with me and welcomed the decision by the headmaster to fund the orchestra in the future.

"He also congratulated the campaign which was an excellent one and shows that if you work hard and believe in something strongly you can be successful.

"The school's orchestra has an excellent reputation and having spoken to parents and pupils on many occasions, you could see how important this issue was to them. Greenhill's orchestra is well known throughout Wales and I'm just glad that common sense prevailed in the end."
