PEMBROKE author Robert Nisbet is all set to break the record for book signing! He's got a whistlestop tour of the bookshops in his home county planned for World Book Day Wales - Thursday, March 4.
A carefully organised programme has been put together with military precision in order to make sure that Robert will be able to visit 12 bookshops in Pembrokeshire - and still have time to spare for an official reception to mark the launch of his book in the evening.
His new book of selected stories - Downtrain, published by Parthian - will be officially launched at Haverfordwest Library at a reception hosted by Pembrokeshire County Council and Pembrokeshire Life Magazine.
But his day starts at 9 am in Tenby, visiting W. H. Smith, Tenby Bookshop, and then Cambrian Books, before heading off to Pembroke Bookshop. From there to Milford Haven and Bookhaven, and then on to Haverfordwest and the Victoria Bookshop, W. H. Smith and The Bookshop.
Next comes St. David's Bookshop then Seaways at Fishguard and Y Siop Lyfrau in Newport. Final stop is at Narberth and the Animal Kitchen Bookshop.
"It's going to be a bit of push, but I'm sure we're going to make it," said Robert, who was born in Haverfordwest and educated at Milford Haven Grammar School.
A lecturer in creative writing at Trinity College, Carmarthen, his stories have been published in a wide range of magazines in Europe and the United States and he is a regular contributor to BBC Radio.
"We're really pleased about this whirlwind tour, it's something exciting and different to attract attention to World Book Day Wales on Thursday, March 4," said Delyth Humphreys, of the Welsh Books Council, which co-ordinates activities for the day in Wales.
The international celebration of reading is aimed at convincing more people that books aren't just for bookworms -they're a source of entertainment, knowledge and escape!
And on World Book Day, the Welsh Books Council has co-ordinated events across Wales and thousands of people in hundreds of different places will join the sixth - and likely to be the most successful - World Book Day in Wales.
Schools, libraries, Forest Enterprise, Arriva, pre-school playgroups, charity shops, the WI, rugby players, news presenters, authors and even pop stars throughout Wales will be joining in the fun.
A regularly updated list of the activities is available on the Welsh Books Council website - http://www.wbc.org.uk/worldbookday">www.wbc.org.uk/worldbookday
