Pembroke Neighbourhood Policing Team have seized alcohol in part of their ongoing campaign against underage drinking and anti-social behaviour. The issue of youths drinking, particularly in the Monkton area, was raised as a priority for the team at last month's forum. It was deemed as an ongoing issue which will be continued to be focused on throughout the coming month. PC Kenny Small said: "It appears adults may be buying the alcohol and then giving it to the youths. "We would like to remind people that this is an offence and we will be working with the retailers to catch those responsible and seize alcohol off the young people. "People should remember there is a reason that young people are not able to buy alcohol - excess drinking puts long-term health at significant risk and the risk of harm from violent crimes, road traffic accidents, unprotected sex, deaths in fires and drowning all increase with the consumption of alcohol." The team will also focus on speeding and setting up Neighbourhood Watch schemes throughout the area.
