Pembroke musician Jess Ward is launching her new album this weekend with a special gig at Pembroke Town Hall tomorow (Saturday) night. She has spent many years teaching piano and performing with her guitar before discovering her dream instrument, the Celtic lever harp. This new love, together with a passion for dancing has inspired her to write her debut album of songs in the neo - folk style called The Mermaid's Lament. Here you will find dancing and devils, mermaids and enchantments and songs of love and longing. Jess's concert will be followed by a dance with the Gower All Stars who perform regularly up and down the country, playing traditional Welsh music on hurdy gurdy, fiddle, bagpipes and more. They have worked tirelessly for years to keep vibrant dance and music traditions alive and kicking, bringing their magic to village halls throughout Wales and making them accessible to all. Dances such as Robin Ddiog, Jac y Do, An Dro and Bourre 3 Temps are expertly called and can be enjoyed by beginners and experienced alike. Doors to the event open at 7.30 pm, with tickets at £7 (kids go in free), available at the door or from Main Street Music.
