August is proving to be a busy month at Carew Castle and Tidal Mill, with open air theatre productions, a medieval banquet and a food fayre just some of the exciting activities and events on offer.
The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority-run attraction is open every day from 10 am - 5 pm during the summer holidays with some unique events taking place outside normal opening hours.
Carew Castle interim manager Rhonwen Owen said: “In addition to the exciting evening events, the castle also has a range of activities for families that vary from day to day, from have-a-go archery and shield making to fabulous falconry.
“Booking is essential for many of the evening events so please be sure to reserve your place to avoid disappointment.”
This Sunday, August 14, enjoy the finest locally produced food and drink at the food fayre. Delicious treats await you and youngsters have a chance to bake bread the medieval way for £1. The fayre is included in the normal admission price and takes place between 10 am and 5 pm.
On Sunday, August 21, enjoy Jane Austen’s beloved tale Sense and Sensibility as Chapterhouse Theatre Company whisk you back to the 19th century. Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7 pm. Booking essential.
For evening performances bring a rug or low-backed chair and a picnic, wear warm clothes and bring a torch as it will be dark as you exit.
On Tuesday, August 30, there will be two performances by Taffire Theatre Company of Nest, a musical two-hander that brings the story of Princess Nest to life. Performances take place at 11 am and 3 pm. This event is included in the normal admission charge to the castle.
On Sunday, August 28, Sir Rhys ap Thomas invites you to a magnificent Medieval Banquet. Come in costume to enjoy an evening of fine food and merry entertainment. Tickets are £50 per person (non-refundable) and include a welcome drink, four course banquet and music. Bring a torch. Doors open at 7.30 pm, banquet served at 8 pm. The evening finishes at 11 pm. Booking is essential.
