Last month was the wettest April Tenby weather recorder Trisha Putwain has recorded since she and her late husband Dicky took over the role for the Met Office in 1996.

"We had 131.2 mm of rain, beating 131.0 mm in 1998," said Trisha. "Our driest was 25.0 mm in 1997, though last year's was also a very dry April with 26.9 mm."

Mrs. Putwain continued: "This March, however, was our driest since our records began, at 26.8 mm, beating 29.3 mm last year. Our wettest March was a whopping 141.7 mm in 1998.

"On the basis of that, 1998 was an exceptionally wet spring - but it also had the driest February and May recorded so far - it's all swings and roundabouts!"
