Thanks to volunteers in Dyfed-Powys Police, Tenby was welcomed with additional officers over the busy Bank Holiday period.

Members of the Special Constabulary assisted their regular colleagues as part of the holiday festivities, which included an RNLI Open Day and a paella festival held in the harbour by the Tenby Lions.

Detective Superintendent Simon Powell, and the force lead on Specials, said: "The Special Constabulary is the UK's part-time police force and they play a significant supporting role to our regular officers.

"It is made up of volunteer members of the public who, when on duty, wear a uniform and have full police powers. Specials carry out similar duties to their full time colleagues and are a major help, especially on events like those in Tenby."

Tenby received many visitors over the Bank Holiday weekend and this additional support enabled Dyfed-Powys Police to effectively and appropriately manage resources thereby ensuring the safety of all the town's visitors.

Specials are usually required to commit 16 hours a month, the equivalent of four hours a week.
