Miss Helen Watson proudly presents 'A Little of What You Fancy' at the Torch Theatre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 11, 12 and 13, at 7.30 pm.
Featuring performances by Miss Sophie-Louise Dann, Mr. Peter John and Mr. Robert Meadwell - with musical direction by Mr. Geoffrey Brawn and Mr. Trevor Jones, an evening of magical, musical, mirthful melodies and concerted comedy capers is guaranteed.
The production is compiled and directed by Helen Watson - whose career has spanned all aspects of the entertainment industry, from TV roles to theatre, cabaret, music hall and directing. She has directed some of the Late Joys productions at the famous Players Theatre in London, where she also performs on many occasions.
Helen's own company began in 1987 at the Watermill Theatre, Newbury. Her production of 'A Little of What You Fancy' has played to packed houses at the Oxford Playhouse, Derby Guildhall, Buxton Opera House and a Christmas version at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff.
Helen has spent many seasons in regional theatre around the country with roles as diverse as Janet Weiss in 'The Rocky Horror Show' to the classic 'Hedda Gabler'.
As well as performing previously in 'A Little of What You Fancy', Trevor Jones has travelled the world performing in 'Godspell', 'East' (Stephen Berkoff), 'The Boyfriend', 'A Little Night Music', 'Annie' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. He recently was a guest singer with Lorna Luft (Judy Garland's daughter) and appeared with Wayne Sleep in 'Hollywood and Broadway' and 'Follies'.
Sophie-Louise Dann joins the company fresh from touring with the prestigious D'Oyley Carte company.
Geoffrey Brawn was the musical associate for the long running 'Good Old Days' BBC TV series and has been accompanist for many well-known personalities, including Bea Lilley, Beryl Reid and Dora Bryan.
Peter John's wide experience covers acting, writing and directing - ranging from twice-nightly weekly rep to Shakespeare Season in Regent's Park and with the Royal National Theatre Company where he was one of the original members, and appeared in Olivier's 'Othello', 'Much Ado About Nothing' directed by Franco Zefferelli and 'The Royal Hunt of the Sun'. He is a veteran pantomime dame and Music Hall performer, having appeared in over 25 pantos and written six!
Robert Meadwell performed with Miss Watson's very first Music Hall at the Swan Theatre in Stratford in 1991. His wide theatre experience includes 'The Rivals' (Thorndike Theatre) and 'Corps!' (Strand Theatre) as well as writing with Philip Glassborrow for composer Cyril Arundel's musical 'A Kid for Two Farthings' starring Ron Moody (Bridewell Theatre).
The evening is guaranteed to be an extravaganza of effervescent entertainment - suitable for all ages. As they say - a little of what you fancy does you good!
