Sir, I wish to express my concern about the possibility of flats being put in place of the former Royal Gate House Hotel. As a young chef currently working in Tenby, I found it quite hard to find a place to receive training of a high standard and I know that most young budding chefs from the area have to resort to going away to progress their skills. My parents ran the Cliff Norton Hotel for 21 years and, when I was growing up, I remember the Gate House as being a big attraction for Tenby. Now, however, there is nothing on the Norton side of the town. Having read about the history of the hotel in the media over the past few weeks, I really do think this would be a marvellous opportunity to restore a great hotel on this site, which would enjoy wonderful views for guests and visitors and provide really good training and function facilities for young chefs in and around the town and the catering industry in general. I know that this topic has been debated frequently in recent weeks, but I just wanted to get across the opinion of someone my age and to see what other youngsters in the town think.
