This was the dramatic moment that Tenby's RNLI crew and a Coastguard helicopter successfully rescued a woman trapped on rocks at Giltar Point on Thursday afternoon.

Tenby’s inshore lifeboat was launched shortly before 1pm on Thursday, August 21, after the Coastguard received a report that a lady was stuck on rocks at Giltar Point.

The volunteer crew were soon on scene, but it was immediately evident that the casualty was too far up the cliff for them to be able to assist, so it was decided that a helicopter rescue was the safest way to rescue her, with the lifeboat standing off as safety cover.

A short time later, a Coastguard rescue helicopter from Newquay in Cornwall was overhead and a crew member was lowered down to the casualty.

After being assessed to make sure she didn't need medical treatment, the casualty was winched up, before getting dropped at the top, where she was met by members of Tenby and St Govans Coastguard rescue teams.

The lifeboat then returned to station, arriving at 2.50pm
