Damage caused to a life-saving defibrillator placed outside Saundersfoot’s Regency Hall building has been slammed by the community.
The defib installed at the entrance by Tenby and Saundersfoot First Responders back in 2019 was vandalised over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Funded by Friends of Tenby Community, the defib is available 24 hours a day and should it be required, Ambulance Control will direct the 999 caller to collect it and bring it to the patient.
“It is with great sadness we have to report, that between Friday, May 28 and 9 am on Monday, May 31, our Emergency Defibrillator was vandalised,” stated a post on the Regency Hall Facebook page.
“In 2019 the defib unit was kindly supplied by Friends of Tenby Community and Tenby/Saundersfoot First Responders in the hope that one day it may save a life.
“Over the very busy Bank Holiday weekend, this was put in jeopardy thanks to some uncaring individuals.
“If anyone has any information related to this crime, please contact the police direct on 101 or alternatively leave your contact details with us on 01834 811700 - email [email protected] and we can pass this on.”
Volunteer with the First Responders, Ben James reiterated that defibrillators can be the difference between ‘life and death’.
“Mindless vandalism such as this could have made the cabinet inaccessible should it have been needed in an emergency,” he remarked.
