Tenby RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was launched at 7.15pm on Wednesday, September 17, after the Coastguard received a 999 call stating that what appeared to be a bobyboarder looked to be getting taken out to sea off Tenby's South beach.
The volunteer crew made best speed to the area and immediately spotted a swimmer exiting the sea carrying a swim float.
The crew spoke to a lone surfer in the area and he confirmed that the swimmer was the only person that had been in the sea apart from himself.
This was then confirmed to be what the first informant had seen, so the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station, arriving at 7.30pm.
