Tenby RNLI’s crew were called into action yesterday, to assist with an injured person on a Pembrokeshire beach.

Tenby's inshore lifeboat was requested to launch shortly after 5.30pm on Monday, August 11, after a request from the Welsh Ambulance Service to assist with the evacuation of a patient with an injured ankle from the beach at Barafundle.

The volunteer crew were quickly on the water and made best speed to Barafundle, some nine miles west of Tenby.

As they were arriving on scene, news came through that the ambulance personnel had managed to medevac the patient by land, so the lifeboat was no longer required.

The lifeboat was stood down to return to station, arriving at 6.45pm.
