A teenage chef from Narberth has been given a lengthy disqualification after admitting a drink-driving charge in court.
Nineteen-year-old Rhys Thomas, of Redstone Court, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to admit a charge of driving his Vauxhall Corsa, after exceeding the prescribed limit of alcohol,
Prosecutor Abul Hussain told the court that Mr. Thomas was stopped by police officers during the early hours of November 25, in Haverfordwest, after they spotted a defect on his vehicle.
Mr. Thomas told officers ‘I’ve had a few’ when asked if he’d been drinking, and after a roadside test proved positive, he was arrested and provided a reading of 45 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at the police station.
“He has a previous conviction for a drug-driving charge last year, where he was disqualified for 12 months,” explained Mr. Hussain.
Magistrates banned Mr. Thomas from getting behind the wheel of a vehicle for 36 months and fined him £120 for the offence.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
