A teenager accused of causing over £2,000 worth of damage at Tenby’s Greenhill School, has been given a community order after pleading guilty to the charge in court.

Nineteen-year-old Billy Miller, of Spring Hill, Dinas Cross, Newport, admitted a charge of damaging property inside the school at Marsh Road to the value of £2,607.09, when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Monday.

An arrest warrant had been issued for the defendant earlier this month after he failed to appear in court for a scheduled hearing.

The incident occurred on February 18, where criminal damage was caused to fire alarms and the security system at the school, following a break-in.

Magistrates handed Mr. Miller a 12 month community order, with the defendant ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid.

He was also told he would have to pay the school £2607.09 in compensation, as well as £85 prosecution costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
