Police officers were forced to use a stinger on a drink-driver between Tenby and Pentlepoir this week who was discovered to be more than seven times over the alcohol limit.
Officers acted on Tuesday afternoon (June 11) after they were made aware of a possible drink driver travelling west from St Clears.
The vehicle was later sighted on the A477 and attempts were made to stop the vehicle, however the driver failed to stop and a pursuit was authorised, leading to a stinger being successfully deployed on the A478 between Tenby and Pentlepoir bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion.
Pembrokeshire Road Policing Unit revealed on social media that when tested, the motorist was found to have 247 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath, with the legal limit being 35 microgrammes.
It was the second incident in less than a week that police in the area have been tasked to deal with a drink driver, following a motorist that was over the limit colliding with a number of parked vehicles along Tenby’s Lower park Road on Thursday (June 6).
“The motorist responsible was arrested at scene, and provided a station breath test that exceeded the legal limit,” said PC Williams of Tenby’s Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“He has been charged to court. Some of the vehicles involved have been left in situ and the owners are awaiting insurance companies to further advise,” he added.
