A Pembroke pensioner accused of drink-driving a disability mobility scooter is set to appear in court later this month.

Seventy-three-year-old Valene Colley, of Upper Lamphey Road, was set to have her case heard on Tuesday at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court, but the matter was adjourned to provide the Crown Prosecution Service with information as to the make and model of the mobility scooter, to ascertain whether it fell into a different category of vehicle, and was classed as an invalid carriage.

Mrs. Colley is alleged to have driven the scooter on Main Street in Pembroke on February 2, after exceeding the prescribed limit of alcohol, with police officers recording a reading of 62 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The case was adjourned until Tuesday, March 13, with the defendant, who was released on unconditional bail, ordered to attend the Haverfordwest court again on that date.
