A man accused of possessing an offensive weapon in public and causing criminal damage to a car is set to appear at Crown Court.
Thirty-six-year-old Wayne Alan Whatling, of Prescelly Place, Milford Haven accused of having an offensive weapon, namely a wooden rounders bat on Marble Hall Road, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where he was also charged with causing criminal damage to the windscreen of a vehicle belonging to Ian King.
At the hearing Mr. Whatling’s solicitor told the court that no pleas would be indicated on the charges which are alleged to have taken place on September 26.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones invited magistrates to send the matter to Swansea Crown Court for trial on the basis that their powers would be insufficient to deal with the case.
He explained that the other alleged party involved in the incident, forty-year-old Ian King, of Dewsland Street, had appeared at the court the previous week where magistrates had elected to send the case to Crown Court stating as their powers of sentencing were not sufficient for such a serious charge, so it was only fair he said that this charge should be dealt with at Crown Court.
Magistrates elected to send Mr. Whatling’s case to Swansea Crown Court, where he was ordered to appear on December 13.
