A Milford man has been fined in court after admitting a drugs possession charge.

Thirty-three-year-old Andrew John Armstrong, of Picton Road, Hakin, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to possessing 2 grams of cannabis.

The court heard how police officers carried out a stop and search check on the defendant after spotting him behaving suspiciously in the Milford Haven area on July 6.

The defendant immediately told police that he had £20 worth of cannabis in his left pocket.

Prosecutor Linda Baker told the court that Mr. Armstrong had previous drug offences on record, with the last one coming back in 2017.

It was also noted that he was also convicted for criminal damage in 2018, which he was still subject to a community order for.

Defending Mr. Armstrong, defence solicitor Mike Kelleher said that his client was complying with a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR)

He also mentioned that his client was looking for work and had an existing debt to the court.

Magistrates fined Mr. Armstrong £80 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge. A destruction order was also given for the drugs.
