A female from Milford who stole items from a supermarket in Pembroke Dock has been charged in court.

Twenty-seven-year-old Kelly Louise Rees, of Prescelly Place, pleaded guilty to stealing items to the value of £59.57 belonging to Aldi in Pembroke Dock, when she appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard Jones told the court that the offence took place shortly after 4 pm on Saturday, May 6, with Miss Rees entering the store with her own personal bag, and being spotted on CCTV putting items of meat in the bag before leaving without paying.

“She was not stopped at the time and by the time police had spoken to her about the offence, the meat had been disposed of,” said Mr. Pritchard Jones, who told the court that Miss Ress had a number of previous convictions against her for shoplifting, and was given a 12 month community order, with a rehab activity requirement of 20 days, only last month in the same court.

Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that the offence that his client was in court for on the day, predated the previous conviction, and that they had sought to get this latest charge against her dealt with at her previous hearing, but that it had not been possible.

Probation officer Julie Norman explained to magistrates that Miss Rees did inform her of another shoplifting offence in the ‘pipeline’ previously.

“The community order is in its infancy so we should leave it run,” she said.

Magistrates gave the defendant a conditional discharge and ordered her to pay compensation of £59.57 to the Aldi store.

Miss Rees was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a victim surcharge.
