A Pembroke man has been fined in court after admitting drugs possession offences.

Forty-two-year-old Phillips Edward Evans, of the Riverside Hostel, pleaded guilty to possessing 1.59 grams of heroin and 0.25 grams of cannabis resin, when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told magistrates that police executed a search warrant in Milford Haven on November 24, and discovered the drugs in Mr. Evans’s possession.

“The defendant made a full admission in interview. He has 23 previous drug offences to his name, but this is the first time he’s been in court since 2013,” he explained.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that his client had found himself feeling a bit down at the time of his arrest due to the loss of two close family friends.

Magistrates fined Mr. Evans a total of £200 for the offences, and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge. A destruction order for the drugs was also passed.
