Tenby RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was launched at 5.10 pm on Friday (July 17), after a report that a windsurfer was possibly in difficulty off Tenby’s South beach.
On arriving at South beach, the volunteer crew found that a passing vessel had just picked up the windsurfer and his board and were in the process of dropping them ashore.
The sail was still missing, so due to its potential to cause hazard to vessels in the area, the lifeboat was requested to perform a search for the sail.
With nothing found, it was decided that the sail had probably sunk, so the lifeboat returned to station, arriving at 5.35 pm.
