Emergency services attended Saundersfoot harbour on Saturday night, after reports of a car going off the pier.

At 7.43pm, fire crews from Tenby were called to a road traffic collision involving one vehicle which had come to rest in a precarious position; overhanging the harbour wall.

No persons were trapped and all managed to exit the vehicle to safety.

The fire service winched the vehicle back to a safe position.

Tenby’s RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched for the second time that day, and on the water shortly before 8 pm, with the volunteer crew making best speed towards the scene at Saundersfoot Harbour.

Upon arrival at Saundersfoot, it was obvious that the tide was too far out of the harbour for the lifeboat to be able to assist the fire, police and ambulance service personnel who were already on the scene.

The lifeboat was stood down by Milford Haven Coastguard and returned to station.

Firefighters left the incident at 8.46 pm.

“At approximately 7.45pm on Saturday July 30, police received reports of a car balancing on the edge of the harbour at Saundersfoot Harbour, Brewery Terrace,” a police spokesperson said.

“The car was a grey Volkswagen Golf. No occupants were in the car, and no one was injured. The car was safely back in the car park by approximately 8.20 pm.”
