Thirty-eight-year-old Matthew Howell Jones, of Jones Street, Tonypandy is accused of interfering with a badger set; and attempting to kill a badger in the vicinity of Ysgubor, Llanfallteg.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on January 20.

Mr. Jones is also accused of failing to ensure the welfare of a black terrier dog between January 6 and 20 in the vicinity of Tonypandy.

At an initial hearing on Monday at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court, Mr. Jones’ solicitor said he wanted more time to prepare the case as he had not received the documents that he needed.

The case was adjourned and a further hearing was set for October 21 at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court.

Mr. Jones was released on unconditional bail.
