A man from Carew has been fined in court after admitting cannabis possession.
Twenty-two-year-old Rory Wynne-Owen, of Carew Cheriton, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to a charge of possessing two grammes of the drug in Tenby, on June 12.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that police officers on routine patrol in the town centre, followed a vehicle to the Salterns.
“When officers asked the driver to open his window, they immediately noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the car,” she explained.
After searching the vehicle, officers found a grinder in the front passenger footwell and two wraps containing herbal cannabis in the boot.
The defendant said in a police interview that he was going to smoke the cannabis himself and that he had purchased the drugs in Cardiff.
Magistrates fined Mr. Wynne-Owen £80 for the offence and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
