Tenby Coastguard Rescue Team had a busy time over the weekend.
Action began just before 4 am on Saturday when the team was paged along with Tenby RNLI ILB to reports of a despondent male in the vicinity of North Beach.
Following a hasty search by the team along North Walk and a search by the ILB of the water in that area, information was received that the casualty had been sighted in The Esplanade area.
All teams made best speed to the new location and were informed that the casualty had been located and was in the care of Dyfed-Powys Police and Welsh Ambulance Service.
The second shout came at 10.45 pm when the team was alerted to a report of a person who had fallen some 30-feet onto rocks at The Paragon Beach.
In a multi-agency operation, the team worked alongside St. Govan Coastguard Rescue Team, Mid and West Wales Fire Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service to perform a technical rope rescue to recover the female casualty to the beach where they were then transported to an awaiting land ambulance by coastguard team.
Firefighters from Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven and Tenby attended, along with the brigade’s rope rescue team from Pontardawe.
As the coastguard team evacuated the casualty from The Paragon, a call was received from Milford Haven coastguard operation centre that the team’s attendance was required to another casualty who had reportedly fallen above North Walk.
The team along with colleagues from HM Coastguard Broad Haven made best speed to that location to assess the situation.
Upon arrival, the casualty had managed to self recover and was in the care of Dyfed-Powys Police.
A couple of hours later, Tenby Coastguard Rescue team were paged at 2.52 am to assist the Welsh Ambulance Service with the medical evacuation of a casualty from the beach below The Strand in Saundersfoot.
Upon arrival, the casualty was located in the car park at The Strand.
A second medical evacuation shout was received at 3.41 pm, this time to an incident at Pendine Beach,
As the team made their way to the scene, information was received that the casualty had managed to recover from the beach and was in the care of the ambulance crew.
The final shout came at 10.50 pm on Sunday after a car got stranded on Tenby’s Castle Beach.
The driver had unfortunately got the vehicle stuck and without four-wheel drive was unable to drive it back off.
A local person with a four-wheel drive vehicle offered assistance to the driver and was able to recover the vehicle from the beach whilst the team provided safety cover.
