Angle RNLI’s lifeboat crew were tasked during the early hours of the morning (Thursday, May 22) to assist a yacht in difficulty south of Grassholm Island.
The crew were paged at 3:23am this morning to assist a lone sailor onboard a 25ft yacht.
The vessel was experiencing engine difficulties and having broken down hours previously was becoming exhausted.
The lifeboat launched and arrived on scene with the casualty vessel 35 minutes later. After an assessment of the situation, the safest course of action was to pass a tow and assist the vessel to safety.
After a tow lasting around 3 hours, the lifeboat arrived off the entrance to Milford Marina and an alongside tow was rigged to take the casualty vessel into the lock.
After locking in and leaving the vessel safely alongside, the crew were stood down and returned to station and the lifeboat was readied for further service by 8:45am.
The crew gave a big thank you to the Lord Nelson Hotel for the bacon rolls on their arrival at the marina!
