ANGLE RNLI Lifeboat has continued to be on call and active as August gets underway.

Just over an hour into the new month, at 1.11am on August 1, the crew assisted a 32ft yacht with one person on board which had lost all power and electrics including navigation lights, off the Impala Terminal on the Milford Haven Waterway.

A local pilot vessel was initially assisting to remove the yacht from the shipping channel due to commercial traffic movements but requested lifeboat assistance.

After assessing the situation, the lifeboat took the yacht the short distance to Milford Marina in an alongside tow.

The lifeboat was back alongside her berth and ready for service once again by 2.30am.

Just 12 hours later, the crew were tasked alongside Little and Broad Haven Lifeboat following a VHF call from the skipper of a yacht reporting that his 75-year-old wife had fallen down the steps of their yacht anchored in South Haven at Skomer Island. She was suffering significant back and hip pain.

The lifeboat launched and arrived on scene around 25 minutes later where the crew from Little Haven were just boarding the vessel to provide an initial assessment.

The lifeboat then secured alongside the vessel and transferred additional crew onboard to assist. Following an assessment of the casualty, she was immobilised, placed into a stretcher and taken aboard the all-Weather Lifeboat. The crew then proceeded back to the Port Authority jetty at Milford Haven where an ambulance had been requested.

There, the crew continued to keep the casualty comfortable until the ambulance arrived, and assisted with her transfer to the ambulance following an assessment by the paramedics.

With no further assistance required, the crew were stood down and the lifeboat was ready for further service by 6pm.
