Earlier this week, Angle RNLI towed a rigid inflatable off Skomer Island to safety at East Angle Bay.

At 10.55am On April 3, the All-Weather Lifeboat was tasked to locate and assist a seven-metre rigid inflatable with five people on board, one of whom was a three-year-old child. The inflatable had broken down off the Mew Stone on the southwestern tip of Skomer Island.

The lifeboat launched shortly afterwards and was on scene around 25 minutes later, where a local passenger vessel had responded to keep the vessel out of any further danger until the lifeboat arrived on scene.

After assessing the situation, it was decided that the safest option was to take the vessel under tow. A tow was rigged and the crew began the journey towards East Angle Bay.

They arrived just off East Angle Bay around two hours later, whereupon the vessel was placed into an alongside tow and taken into the bay.

With no further assistance required, the crew were stood down and returned to station where the lifeboat was back alongside the jetty and readied for further service by 2pm.

A relative of those on board later thanked for the crew for their trouble.
