ORIGINAL '80s shock rockers W.A.S.P. play a rare gig at the De Valence Pavilion in Tenby on November 1 as part of their 11-date UK tour. Fronted by metal god codpiece flame shooter, Blackie Lawless, W.A.S.P. were so outrageous in their leather-clad heyday, they made fellow 80s rock legends KISS look like Westlife. The band had seven Top 40 hits in the late '80s and early '90s with classics like Scream Until You Like It and Mean Man. Film buffs will recognise Blackie from the soundtrack to Wes Craven's 1989 horror, A Nightmare On Elmstreet: The Dream Child, while you can also spot him head banging in the hilarious parody This Is Spinal Tap. It is with W.A.S.P., though, that metal fans across the globe continue to adore the mullet strutting star. Blackie's stage antics are the stuff of legend. At one show he accidentally set his legs alight when a 'strategically placed' fire apparatus misfired the wrong way. Aside from that one incident, he's somehow kept fans coming back for more He formed W.A.S.P. in 1982, and after numerous line-up changes over the years, remains the only surviving member of that original incarnation. Mates with The Who's Pete Townsend, Blackie's legendary live performances were inspired by Alice Cooper, though he took things to a whole new level with memorable moments such as throwing meat into the crowd. Whether you'll need to dodge air bound pork chops at the Pavilion remains to be seen, but you are promised a night you'll never forget. Support comes courtesy of McQueen and House of Games. Tickets are £16 in advance. To book, telephone the Box Office on (01834‚ 843568.
