This season's local derby began with Trefloyne Manor playing host to Tenby GC. A forecast for thundery showers did not materialise and an enjoyable day's golf ensued.

First quartet on the tee was Darrell Jones and Derek Jones against Allan Watts and Des Stone. After nine holes, it was honours shared, however, the visitors birdied the next two holes and continued to hold their advantage, increasing it to three-up st the end.

Second on the tee were Pat Casement and Trevor Lewis playing Peter Williams and Bart Youll. Pat and Trevor played a steady game, winning comfortably by 4/3.

Next group was Glyn Latcham and Wyn Hopkins against Jim Malin and Ken Gouldsborough. Glyn's down to 14 handicap and looking to go lower, also Wyn had nine shots so it was little wonder that the Tenby lads found the going tough, a 7/5 win for Glyn and Wyn.

Fourth on the tee were Graham Longster and John James vying with Stan Hudson and Brian Waters. A par on the first from Stan gave the home pair a wake-up call and they responded by winning the next three holes!

By the ninth, it was all-square, the visitors having two pars more than Graham and John. From there on it was nip-and-tuck, Stan and Brian being one up going down the 18th. Fortunately, John had a shot here and holed out for a net five to win the hole for a tie.

Following them were Wayne Connett and Stuart Mills against Jeff Barnsfield and Chris Siewald. The home pair were in fine form and maintained the lead throughout to win 4/3.

Sixth on the tee were Dennis Holloway and Jack Zeraschi playing Paul Bradey and Tony Ramoe. Going four down after five holes, Dennis and Jack wondered what had gone wrong! Whatever it was, it disappeared and they proceeded to win nine of the next 10 holes for a 4/3 victory.

Graham Harrison and Bob Burks now took on Bob Howse and Bob Crease, rare to have three Bobs in a foursome. They had a very friendly game and finished all square.

Penultimately, Dave Crowley and Roger Woodward took on Peter Woodhouse and Mike Fox. This result was in doubt for most of the game, but home advantage finally told, Dave and Roger winning 3/2.

Lastly, John Perrott and John Hargraves took to the fairways with Martin Nielan and John Charmade, three Johns this time! The Tenby lads found good form and had a five hole lead at the 15th to give Tenby a second win. The final result was a 6/3 win for Trefloyne Manor. Best wishes to Tenby's senior captain Tony Morgan for a speedy recovery.
