THE penultimate event of Tenby Sailing Club’s 2025 Redwing series held on Thursday was a cracking race.
Race officers Ali, Jan and Ben set a starboard triangle using fixed marks in a good force 3 to 4 wind.
R241, Jules and Howard led off the start, but were passed to leeward by R244, Steve and Cirus on the reach to mark ‘BOB’ off Waterwynch.
Redwing series
After the gybe, out at sea, a three-way battle ensued with R249, Dan and Kevin adding pressure from behind, whilst R190, Alex and Iolo, was waiting to pounce on the tiniest mistake.
With place changes a plenty on the next two laps, a capsize during a tack pushed R241 to the back of the field.
Racing continued in earnest to the fourth lap with 249 closing on the leader and passing during a poor tack to take the win. Finishing order: 249, 244, 190, 241. The final race is on September 18th.
Dinghy Racing, Tuesday, 2 September: 1, Europe 986, Robin Wood; 2, Scorpion 1995, Peter Rose and Igor Otahal; 3, R228, Bill and Nan Dowell; 4, R241, Julian Cumpsty LBS; 5, RS600, Steve Leach.
Cruiser racing: After a very wet morning on Sunday, 7 September, the sun came out and the WSW 4 to 6 wind gave three boats a good evening race, sailing two laps of the fixed dinghy course.
