Sunday Sailing

Numbers were down slightly on Sunday for the first race in the club's frostbite series which runs each Sunday (weather permitting) from now until Boxing Day. Seven boats contested the race run by Paul and Ann Thomas. Conditions were light and the race was won by Steve and Jasmine in an RS200; second were Mike and Deanna in their Osprey and third Alistair MacKay in the club Laser. Danny in his Vareo was fourth and Alistair Knibb, unusually piloting his own Osprey in a club race with guest crew Matt Goldwait, fifth.

OSPREYS AT

PORT TALBOT

A couple of our Ospreys made the journey to Tata Sailing Club at Port Talbot to take part in their regatta. A fleet of over 60 boats of various classes filled the reservoir and presented different problems to the contestants from those usually encountered in the North Bay at Tenby. The two Ospreys contested the fast handicap division, with Paul and Steve achieving 15th and Jaime and Hannah, in their first visit to such a meeting, 21st. Well done to both of them for making the effort and enjoying two pleasant, if light wind, days on the water.

Juniors

The end of season party was very well attended by both youngsters and parents.

It was a great social evening and Blake thanked everyone who had helped throughout the season. He also gave details of opportunities for winter training, both at the club and around Pembrokeshire. It was hoped that a few youngsters would be able to come and sail in the Sunday morning races at Tenby.

He finished by presenting Stage 1-4 certificates to those who had recently completed their course. The full list of names will appear on the club website.

Many thanks again to Karin for organising the party food.

Howard

Great news! Howard is back and will be catering this weekend.

Darts

Who said lightning doesn't strike twice? Guess what? - we won. Vice-captain, Ruth Tebbutt, made an inspired team selection, resulting in a victory which is still being celebrated. With captain, Terry Evans, still away, Ruth will have to motivate the troops once more. This evening there is a home cup tie against the Castle A team. Bon chance mes ami.

Opening Hours

The club will now be open on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes.

Weekly Draw

The 37th draw took place last Saturday - the owner of the winning ticket was not present so tomorrow's draw is a rollover.

The draw was independently verified by the draw master, Paul Redford.

The next draw takes place tomorrow evening at 9 pm when the prize will be £90. Please note - you must be present and have your membership card with you to claim the prize!

Newsletter

A newsletter is being prepared and will be distributed soon.

Humour

A man appears before St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. "Have you ever done anything of particular merit?" St. Peter asks.

"Well, I can think of one thing," the man offers. "I came upon a gang of macho pirates who were threatening a young woman. I directed them to leave her alone, but they wouldn't listen. So I approached the largest, meanest, nastiest one. I smacked him on the head, knocked the parrot off his shoulder, ripped out his ear ring and threw it on the ground and told him, 'Leave her alone now or you'll answer to me'."

St. Peter was impressed. "When did this happen?"

The man replies, "Just a couple of minutes ago..."
