Senior section team
On another glorious sunny Pembrokeshire afternoon, the senior section team led by captain Simon Davies entertained Newport (Pembs.) Seniors to an enjoyable golf match, as expected there has to be winners and losers, but as always golf and good company were the true winners.
South Pembs. Remain unbeaten at home for the past two seasons, and again local knowledge was a great advantage, with the home team winning the match six-and-a-half to three-and-a-half.
The winning pairs and scores were: Simon Davies and Peter Johnston won 6 -5; Keith Rees and Nigel Williams won 6-4; Frank O'Sullivan and Erik Pennington won 6-5; Ray Puddifoot and Richard Calley won 6-5; Clive Pitten and Vince Symes won 3-2; Harold James and Peter Bowling won 2-1; Kevin Dewhurst and Roy Harris had an honourable half.
The Barrack Hill course is now looking in wonderful condition, and our greenkeepers were praised by the visitors for their excellent work.
After the match, everyone enjoyed a first class meal, and speeches from both captains. They thanked Janet Norrie (our caterer) for her culinary delights.
Next home match is on Thursday, April 19, when the visitors will be Glyn Abbey.
