The Pembrokeshire football league returned to action with a whimper following the Christmas break, with a host of games postponed due to waterlogged pitches, but that didn't stop two shock results from taking place.

The first came in the third round of the Senior Cup where Angle beat Pennar Robins thanks to a last minute penalty by Ben Adams and the other came in division one where Herbrandston beat leaders Hakin United in the only league game of that division.

In the cup game, Angle, visitors and underdogs at Bush Camp, were 1-0 down at the break after a Gareth Lewis strike gave the home side the lead, but they drew level thanks to Lee Brockway, before Adams stepped up to the plate to secure a semi-final berth for the away team.

Cosheston Cougars were also in cup action as they entertained Hakin United seconds in the first round of the third division cup and the home side went through courtesy of a 7-1 win.

In a display of total dominance, Cosheston strolled through thanks to goals by Craig Bendall and Josh Sture, a brace by Wayne Boswell and a superb hat-trick by Luke Hendry.

Back to league action and division two fared better than the one above as five games took place. Carew thrashed Letterston 6-0, while Clarbeston Road beat Haverfordwest Cricket Club 10-2.

Carew extended their lead to seven points at the top of the table, with James Hinchliffe stealing the honours after scoring four goals in the rout. The other goals came from Niall Williams and James Adie.

Hundleton were not so fortunate after they lost 4-2 at home to Fishguard Sports.

Scott Brunton and fellow Lamphey Cricket Club team-mate Tom Powell scored the goals for the home team.

Elsewhere in the division, Goodwick United seconds beat Solva 2-1, Hundleton lost 4-2 at home to Fishguard Sports, while Milford Athletic and Johnston seconds dished out a close encounter, with the honours going 4-3 to the Tigers.

In Division Three, Camrose beat Pennar Robins' seconds 4-1, with Hubberston beating Carew seconds 3-2.

Patrick McDonagh fired one into the back of the net for the unfortunate Robins, while for Carew, the goals were shared between Grant James and Alex Moore.

In division four, there was more joy for Herbrandston as their seconds beat Milford Athletic 4-2.

There was joy, too, for Pendine as they started the New Year in style following a 2-1 home win over Pembroke Boro. Robbie Waters and Ricky Hunt were the men to score in a game that few would have predicted going ahead following the weather, while Byron Woodward scored for the visitors.

Elsewhere in the division, there were wins for Llangwm, Manorbier United and Neyland seconds.

Jacob Webster scored twice in Manorbier's win over St. Ishmaels, while Pennar Robins' thirds went down 3-2 at Llangwm.

Kilgetty seconds' miserable form of 2014 continued into the New Year as they lost 7-2 at Angle seconds. Christopher Morgan and William Griffin scored the goals for the Kingsmoor outfit, but the home side dominated the game.

Jason Evans starred for the home team, slotting home three goals, with the others coming from Jake Seaton, Nathan Ferrier and a Luke Wickland brace.

The result leaves Kilgetty propping up the league, while other results in the division went the way of Fishguard Sports, Llangwm seconds and Pembroke Boro seconds.

Jamie Stanley and Scott A'Lee scored in Hundleton seconds' defeat at Fishguard Sports, while it was all-square at Pembroke Boro as the home team's seconds tied with their counterparts from Lawrenny.

Jamie Wallace scored for the Boro and Peter Horsley for the away team.
