The Borderers got off to a bright start in their campaign in Division Two West with a thumping 48-10 victory away to Pontyberem.

Whitland notched up eight tries in the match, putting in a dominating first half display, going 21-0 by the interval.

Star of the show was winger Sean Coles who made a flying start to the season with a hat-trick of tries.

Fullback Scott Candler and captain Marc Jones both grabbed a brace, with No 10 Nico Setaro, who slotted four conversions, also crossing the try line.
